How it works

Register and prove your setup
Pick an event, accept the rules, capture your identity photo once, and run the system check. The check tells you exactly what would fail on exam day, while there is still time to fix it.

Sit the same paper as everyone else
Every entrant answers the identical question set at the same time. That is what makes the ranks comparable without any form-equating machinery, and it is why the whole paper is retired afterwards.

Wait for the integrity review
Nothing is published straight out of scoring. Every prize-bearing sitting is reviewed by a human before a single rank goes public — there is no shortcut from scoring to published, by design.

Take your rank, certificate and prize
Published standings, a certificate anyone can verify from its id, and a claim window for the prize. Appeals have their own window and their own process.
Why the ranking means something
A leaderboard is only worth the process behind it. Here is the whole of ours.
The tie-break is published before entry closes
Higher score, then fewer wrong answers, then more hard items correct, then less time, then earlier submission. Anything still level is a genuine joint rank and takes the full prize each.
Proctored, but never recorded
Your camera stays on and visible for the duration — that is most of the deterrent. Only periodic still images are stored, and they are deleted on the schedule published with the event.
Negative marking that rewards judgement
A wrong answer costs a full mark, cancelling out a right one, so a blind guess is a losing bet and even a 50/50 is only break-even. Only genuine partial knowledge pays.

It is set per event and stated on every card. Safe Exam Browser is a one-off desktop install; browser mode needs no install at all.
