Rules vary by organisation and by stage. You are shown the ones that apply before you start, and they are worth reading rather than clicking past — they differ.
Common restrictions
Stay in the tab. Most monitored interviews detect leaving. Close other applications first; a notification stealing focus is the usual reason it happens by accident.
Fullscreen. Some interviews require it and detect leaving it. Pressing Escape exits fullscreen — a common accident.
One screen. Where required, disconnect the second display before starting rather than during.
No outside help. No other people, no phone, no notes unless you were told otherwise. Some roles explicitly allow documentation; where they do it will say so.
What happens when something is detected
Usually a warning on screen, so you can correct it. Repeated events are recorded and appear in the report as evidence with what happened and when.
A small number of stages are configured to end automatically after repeated serious events. Where that applies you are told at the start.
Breaks and pausing
Most interviews cannot be paused; the clock runs on our server and closing the lid does not stop it. Where pausing is allowed there is a control for it, and the paused time does not count against you.
Accessibility
If a rule creates a genuine barrier — you use assistive technology, you need more time, a fixed camera position is not possible — contact the organisation before you sit it. Adjustments are theirs to make and most will. Nothing about the platform requires you to struggle through in silence.
